FAQ

1.
How long will it take for my carpet or upholstery to dry?
Some carpets dry in as little as 45 minutes to 1 hour.  However, the average drying time is 2-4 hours but within 24 hours conservatively.  Some conditions that may affect the drying time are the temperature, humidity levels, and the amount of soiling present.

2.
Aren’t all carpet cleaning companies the same?
No.  Carpet cleaning companies run the gamut from “Bubba” working out of the back of his car to the high volume, low price franchisee.  There are five important values which distinguish a real carpet care professional from run of the mill carpet cleaners.  Reputation, Experience, Education, Cleaning Systems, and Guarantee.   In addition to these values, Mid-South Carpet and Tile Cleaning has a 12 step cleaning process for maximum soil and spot removal, without over wetting your carpet or leaving any sticky residues behind returning your carpet, as close as possible, to factory condition.

3. Should I have my carpets steam cleaned or dry cleaned?
Most carpet manufactures recommend hot water extraction with a truck mounted cleaning system.  When performed properly by a certified trained technician, hot water extraction removes much more soil and spots than dry cleaning methods.  If you have a situation that requires dry cleaning, we are experienced in various dry cleaning applications and can apply that method for you.

4. Aren’t all truck-mounted carpet cleaning machines basically the same?
No.  Truck mounted cleaning systems are very complex sophisticated machines that must be properly maintained just like a car.  Many companies buy small machines with lawn mower type engines, or they buy older used cleaning equipment that just simply will not provide the same level of cleaning power that today’s more advanced cleaning systems can.  We update our equipment regularly with the newest and most advanced cleaning equipment available.

5. What areas does Mid-South Carpet and Tile Cleaning service?
The primary area we service is the East Memphis/Germantown area.  We  also cover all of Memphis, TN and the surrounding areas including all of Shelby County, West Memphis, Desoto County, and parts of Fayette and Tipton counties.

7. How often should I have my carpet cleaned
We recommend having your carpets cleaned at least once every 12 months.  Many of our customers have us clean wall to wall and apply carpet protector and then return 6 months later to clean the traffic areas.

8. Do you have a referral program?
Yes.  Starting in 2009 we have implemented a referral program for our valued customers.  As a way of saying thanks for referring us, we will send you a certificate for each customer you send to us that uses our services.  The certificate can be used as a discount on your next cleaning or it can be redeemed for cash.  You can collect as many as you like.  Remember, we guarantee all our work.  So don’t hesitate to refer us to your friends or family.

9. Are your cleaning products safe and gentle
Yes.  The cleaning solutions we use are free of harsh chemicals.  We clean for health.  Unlike many companies who use very high ph harsh cleaning solutions in order to cut down on the cleaning time, we use products that are effective yet safe and gentle even for the most chemically sensitive individuals.

10. How much will my cleaning cost?
Obviously, price is a major consideration for most people. If it is your only basis of comparison of different cleaners, you may be doing yourself a major disservice. All carpet cleaners are NOT alike. It is important to understand what is and is not included in the cleaning service being offered, the type of cleaning method, the type of equipment being used, and the training level and experience of the person actually doing the cleaning. If you only compare the cost, it might be like comparing the cost of a Mercedes with the cost of a Yugo. Both are cars, but they are very, very different. In carpet cleaning, as in many areas, you usually get exactly what you pay for. The lowest bid often represents the lowest quality of service.

A few things to consider when selecting a cleaning service:

* First a low priced cleaning service can actually damage your furnishings because they may not have the experience and education to clean specialty fabrics and stains.   Most of these companies use cheap ineffective equipment, much like the equipment you can rent at the grocery store, which can leave a lot of water in the carpet and take days to dry.

* A lot of companies advertise cheap prices or even quote cheap prices over the phone.  You need to make sure you are actually getting what you pay for.  Their price is cheap because in most cases it is not for a complete cleaning.  They charge extra for spot removal, furniture moving, pre-vacuuming, and for heavy soiled carpet.

* Another way some of these companies raise the price is by charging you for more than one room.  Some companies’ standard room size is a 10x12 or 120 square feet.  Most rooms in a typical home are going to be larger than this.  So if you call needing 3 rooms cleaned, you will be charged for six or more rooms.
